ANNAPOLIS, Md. - The Army women's rugby team defeated service academy rival Navy, 61-20, in Annapolis, Md., on Saturday afternoon. The Black Knights notched their third victory of the season after dropping a 51-21 contest to Norwich the last time out.
Seven different Black Knights added points on the afternoon, led by three tries from Kate Roose and a total of 12 points from the foot of Carissa Pekny.
Army got things started early, getting up by a score of 29-5 at halftime.
Navy was held off of the scoresheet until late in the second half, but their late surge was not enough as Army walked away with the 41-20 victory.
In addition to points from Roose and Pekny, Tranelle Patterson Allison Wilson each posted two tries while Lindy Clark, Kelsey Jang and Erin Moore added one try apiece.
With the victory, the women improve 3-4 on the season. They'll wrap up their three-game roadtrip on Saturday, Oct. 25 with a meeting at American International College. Army will close out the regular season at home on Oct. 31 in a doubleheader against Air Force from Anderson Rugby Complex.
