Army Drops 51-21 Contest at Norwich

NORTHFIELD, VT - In a rematch of an early-season loss, the Army women's rugby team fell to rival Norwich 51-21 in Northfield, Vt., on Saturday afternoon.
Norwich got the scoring started, getting up by 17-0 through 14 minutes of play. Kate Roose would score her first of two tries on the afternoon at the 31st minute mark, with Carissa Pekny adding the conversion, to pull Army within 10 of the Cadets' lead.
Norwich would add another try in the waning minutes of the first half to take a 22-7 lead into the break.
Army opened up the second half with an offensive explosion, as Roose added her second try of the game and Penky converted the kick. With the score 22-14 in favor of the Cadets, Pekny added a try and conversion in the 49th minute to pull Army within just one of the lead.
The Black Knights, however, were unable to hold back the Norwich offense, as the Cadets would end the game with 29 unanswered points to claim the 51-21 victory.
With the loss, Army falls to 2-4 on the season, having fallen to Norwich in both regular season matches. The Black Knights will continue their three-game road trip on Saturday, Oct. 18 when they travel to Navy for a matchup with their service academy rival. Kickoff from Annapolis, Md., is scheduled for 10 a.m.
