Army was not whistled for a penalty and did not commit a turnover on Friday, the first time that has happened since the Black Knights beat SMU on Dec. 30, 2010 in the Bell Helicopter Armed Forces Bowl, a span of 24 games.
The last time Army opened the season with a victory was 2010, a 31-27 victory over Eastern Michigan.
The last time Army won a night game was 2007, a 20-17 last-minute victory over Tulane.
The last time Army opened the season against a Football Championship Subdivision squad was in 2002, a 30-21 loss to Holy Cross.
The last time Army opened the season with a victory against a FCS team was in 1995, a 42-9 victory over Lehigh.
OFFENSE
Right tackle Justin Gilbert Zach Reichert and wide receiver Xavier Moss made their first career starts.
Running back Raymond Maples now has 24 career starts, the most of anyone on the offense.
Angel Santiago established a career-high with his three rushing touchdowns.
Santiago's previous rushing touchdown came at Vanderbilt on Oct. 22, 2011.
Santiago eclipsed the 100-yard rushing mark for the first time in his career and set his career standard with 120 yards on 16 carries.
Santiago also threw his first career touchdown pass, an 18-yard strike to Chevaughan Lawrence.
Santiago made his second career start and first since Nov. 12, 2011 opposite Rutgers at Yankee Stadium.
It marked Lawrence's first career touchdown reception.
Moss had two catches for 75 yards in his first collegiate game, with a long reception of 51 yards.
The last time Army had a quarterback throw for a touchdown and rush for a score was at Wake Forest last season when Trent Steelman ran for three and threw for one. Larry Dixon ran 12 times for 107 yards, the fifth time in his career he has eclipsed the century mark. He is now tied for 15th all-time with five other players in career 100-yard games.
DEFENSE
End Dalton Mendenhall, corner back Josh Jenkins and safety Shaquille Tolbert all made their first career starts.
Free safety Geoffery Bacon now has 18 career starts, the most of anyone on the defensive side of the ball.
Bacon made a career-best 16 tackles.
Bacon has made double-digit tackles in 12 games, including 14 on four occasions Bacon extended his career total in tackles to 212 and moved to 27th all-time.
Middle linebacker Alex Meier made a career-best 11 tackles on Friday, eclipsing his previous best of eight.
Senior end Holt Zalneraitis registered his first career solo sack in the first quarter.
Mendenhall established his career standard with seven tackles.
SPECIAL TEAMS
Alex Tardieu punted for the first time in his career. He punted three times for 116 yards, an average of 38.7 yards per boot.
Daniel Grochowski kicked off for the first time in his career. He had five kicks for 322 yards, an average of 64.4 yards per kick. He also had one touchback.
Grochowski was 3-for-3 on point after touchdown attempts.

Among the crowd of 24,245 fans at Michie Stadium were Hall of Famer Willy Lanier, NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell, the newest Medal of Honor recipient Staff Sergeant Ty Carter and Bruce Binkowski, the Executive Director of the Poinsettia Bowl.
