- Assistant Men's Basketball Coach
Will Louis joined Army West Point as an assistant coach in July of 2025 and will enter his second year on the Black Knights staff in the 2026-27 season.
In his first season (2025-26) with Army, the Black Knights amassed 11 wins, with six wins coming in non-league play and five coming in Patriot League play.
Army’s six wins outside league play included wins over SUNY Maritime, FDU, Manhattan, Gallaudet, and Binghamton. The slate was highlighted by the team’s 63-60 win over eventual 2026 NCAA Tournament qualifier UMBC.
The team also made program history during non-league play, with the team hosting perennial powerhouse Duke, on November 11, shattering the single-game attendance record with 5,326 fans packing into Christl Arena.
In Patriot League play, the Black Knights’ five wins included a regular season sweep over the Lehigh University Mountain Hawks, the eventual Patriot League Tournament champion and 2026 NCAA Tournament qualifier. Army also added a win at home against Holy Cross and two additional road wins, one against Bucknell and another against Loyola Maryland.
Under his direction, junior guard Ryan Curry also received postseason honors, earning a spot on the Patriot League All-League Third Team and MWBA All-Met Honorable Mention. Junior forward Tate Laczkowski was also named to the CSC Academic All-District team.
Prior to joining the Army coaching staff, Louis served as the director of sales and recruiting for the Hoop Group.
Directing his first camp at age 21, Louis was the youngest director in the 60-year history of the Hoop Group.
Joining the company in May 2022, Louis’ first role was director of Pocono Invitational Basketball Camp, the nation’s longest-running basketball camp. While in the Poconos, he oversaw more than 1,500 campers across 18 different camp sessions per summer, most notably directing three sessions of the Bob Hurley Basketball Camp.
Transitioning to a new role in the summer of 2023, Louis wore many different hats for the company. He served as lead director of Hoop Group NXT Gen, a platform for elite middle school programs consisting of fall, winter and spring circuits. In 2024 alone, more than 300 programs participated in a Hoop Group NXT Gen event.
Louis also served as lead director of Hoop Group Elite Camp, the nation’s largest exposure camp. Known for his eye for talent, the 2024 Future All-American Camp featured 12 players in the ESPN Top 50 in their respective classes, with Louis serving as camp director.
He was also assistant director for Hoop Group Jam Fests, featuring more than 20 events a year. In 2024 alone, more than 50,000 boys basketball players from 32 states and seven different countries competed in a Jam Fest, including 600 teams at the annual Pittsburgh Jam Fest.
Louis also served as assistant director for both the Hoop Group Showcase League and Hoop Group Academic League, also known as the HGSL and HGAL. In the Class of 2024 alone, the HGSL produced 50 Division I commitments, including Butler commit Azavier “Stink” Robinson, a McDonald’s All-American nominee and Indiana Mr. Basketball.
Before joining the Hoop Group, Louis served as a student assistant at Doane University in Crete, Nebraska. In his final season at Doane, the Tigers finished with a 20-14 record, narrowly missing the NAIA national tournament.
The best record in eight seasons, Doane posted Top 25 wins over No. 11 Jamestown and No. 22 Briar Cliff. During that season, Louis was instrumental in the development of GPAC All-Conference players Josiah Gardiner, Alec Oberhauser, Brady Timm and Anthony Laravie.
Louis graduated from Doane in 2022, earning a Bachelor of Arts degree in History.
