Tanner Anderson joined the Army West Point Football program as an Assistant Strength and Conditioning Coach in summer of 2025. He brings nearly a decade of collegiate performance coaching experience and works alongside head strength coach Conor Hughes and his staff to support the Black Knights' football strength and conditioning initiatives.
Anderson most recently served as the Head Strength and Conditioning Coach at Robert Morris University, where he directed training programs for 17 NCAA Division I teams. While with the Colonials, he led sport-specific performance plans for football, women's basketball, and men's and women's lacrosse, in addition to managing a team of assistant coaches and interns and overseeing operations across multiple facilities.
Before his time at Robert Morris, Anderson spent four seasons at Missouri Western State University in various roles, including Assistant Strength and Conditioning Coach and Interim Head Strength and Conditioning Coach. There, he was responsible for directing programming across several sports, contributing to football player development, and implementing performance technologies such as STAT Sports GPS tracking.
His early career includes internships with football at Virginia Tech and Olympic sports at the University of South Dakota, where he gained valuable experience in designing training programs, teaching technique, and applying data-driven strategies to enhance athletic performance.
Anderson holds a Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology and Sport Management from the University of South Dakota (2018) and a Master’s Degree from Missouri Western State University (2020). He is a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) and holds Level 1 certifications from both USA Weightlifting and Reflexive Performance Reset.
His training philosophy focuses on discipline, maximizing athletic potential, and developing resilient, accountable teams.
