Army West Point Head Women's Basketball Coach Katie Kuester announced the addition of Mary Sheehan as an assistant coach/ assistant recruiting coordinator ahead of the 2025-26 season.
A former standout student-athlete and rising coaching talent, Sheehan reunites with Kuester after previously serving on staff together at Saint Joseph's University.
"Mary is the perfect fit for us here at West Point, said Kuester. "She has unbelievable energy and spirit that is contagious to everyone around her. She has a great knowledge of the game and takes a lot of pride in her recruiting and player development. Mary immediately elevates our program because of who she is and how she operates."
Sheehan most recently served as the director of operations at Saint Joseph's, where she helped guide the Hawks through a successful 2023–24 campaign alongside Kuester. Their strong coaching chemistry and shared approach to player development were instrumental in the program's growth, particularly in guard/post play and team culture.
Prior to joining the coaching ranks, Sheehan enjoyed a five-year playing career at Saint Joseph's, appearing in 93 games and scoring 349 points. She served as a three-year team captain, recognized for her leadership both on and off the floor. Sheehan graduated with a degree in accounting in 2020 and later earned her MBA with a certificate in data analytics, data management, and leadership in 2022.
A native of Drexel Hill, Pa., Sheehan was a standout high school player at Cardinal O'Hara and earned All-Catholic League honors. Her journey as a leader, mentor, and high-level student-athlete uniquely equips her to connect with and guide the cadet-athletes at West Point.
Sheehan joins a dynamic staff as the Army women's basketball staff continues to take shape under Kuester's leadership heading into the 2025–26 season.
