The Black Knights have a new addition to the coaching staff in the spring of 2025, bringing on Kerry Edwards from Bowling Green.
Kerry Edwards spent one year as the assistant coach at Bowling Green, where the Falcons finished with a 7-7-4 overall record. Under Edwards' direction, the Falcons also made a MAC tournament appearance.
Previous to her time at Bowling Green, Kerry Edwards served as the head coach at Georgia Southwestern State University.
In her three years at the helm, Edwards guided GSW to three of the four winningest seasons in program history. The Hurricanes made two PBC Tournament trips in that time, and the team won a total of five conference games after winning just three league contests in the previous 15 years combined.
Edwards enjoyed success both as a player and a coach before GSW. She played collegiately at Dallas Baptist University, leading the team to three NCAA Tournament appearances, including a trip to the Sweet 16 in 2011. A goalkeeper, she finished her career second in the NCAA Division II record books with 48 career shutouts, and third with almost 8,000 minutes in net.
Edwards was named to the All-Heartland Conference and All-South Central Region teams in each of her four seasons and was a two-time NCAA All-American.
Edwards began her collegiate coaching career at Southwest Oklahoma State University in 2015 as a graduate assistant. The Bulldogs recorded 11 shutouts as a team and had a 1.19 GAA while going 13-6-1 overall and 8-3-1 in the Great American Conference to finish third in the league.
Edwards spent the 2016 season at the University of North Alabama as a graduate assistant before taking a position as an assistant coach with the University of South Alabama in the 2017 season. At the latter school, she coached the goalkeepers who led the Sun Belt Conference in shutouts and boasted a 0.93 GAA. The Jags captured the SBC regular-season title, then rolled through the league tournament, winning three games without allowing a single goal and advancing to the NCAA Championships.
The 2017 team also won the SBC regular-season and tourney crowns, again posting three shutouts during the league tournament to advance to the NCAAs.
Edwards returned to North Alabama, coaching the goalkeepers as the team transitioned from NCAA Division II to Division I. The program posted seven shutouts and had a 1.15 in 2018, helping the team make the Atlantic Sun Conference Tournament final.
After two seasons with the Lions, Edwards joined the Northwestern State University program, where she worked remotely in 2020, due to the restrictions of COVID-19. Her primary responsibilities included scouting opponents, analyzing and breaking down game film along with consulting about practice planning and tactical development.
Edwards, a native of McKinney, Texas, earned her undergraduate degree in kinesiology from Dallas Baptist in 2015 and received her master's degree in sports management from North Alabama in 2018.
