Emre Dodanli joins the Army West Point men's gymnastics program as an assistant coach, bringing an Olympic and NCAA championship pedigree along with a background in team leadership from his decorated career at the University of Oklahoma.
Dodanli competed for the Sooners from 2021-25, capping his collegiate career as the 2026 NCAA National Champion on high bar. He was a 15-time All-American and a three-time conference champion during his time at Oklahoma, and was named a finalist for the Nissen-Emery Award, presented annually to the top senior in men's collegiate gymnastics. In his final season, Dodanli was named team captain of OU men's gymnastics.
Beyond the podium, Dodanli represented Turkey on the international stage as a member of the Turkish National Gymnastics Team from 2021-25, competing as an Olympic gymnast at the 2024 Summer Games in Paris.
Dodanli was equally accomplished in the classroom, earning 10-time Academic All-American recognition, Team Academic All-American honors, All-America Scholar-Athlete distinction and multiple appearances on the Academic All-Big 12/SEC Winter Academic Honor Roll during his time at Oklahoma. He also served as an athletic training assistant for OU Athletics from 2021-25 and as a Supplemental Instruction Leader for General Chemistry II.
Dodanli has been active in his community as well, volunteering with the Student Mentorship Program at Cleveland Elementary School in Norman, Okla., from 2021-25.
Dodanli graduated from the University of Oklahoma in May 2026 with a Bachelor of Science in Health and Exercise Science and a minor in Psychology, posting a 3.8 GPA. He holds certifications in Basic Life Support (CPR and AED) and First Aid, and continues to gain experience in health care through clinical and research work, including as a medical assistant and undergraduate research assistant.
