Emily Chiu brings more than a decade of coaching, operations, and athlete-development experience to her role as Director of Soccer Operations at Army West Point. A seasoned educator, coach, and program leader, Chiu has built a career centered on developing student-athletes, elevating team infrastructure, and strengthening the operational backbone of soccer programs at multiple levels.
Chiu most recently served as a Physical Education Teacher at Roth Elementary in Klein, Texas, where she designed and delivered developmentally appropriate physical education and health curricula for K–5 students and fostered a positive, inclusive learning environment. Prior to her time in Texas, she coached across youth, high school, and club soccer landscapes, including roles with Liberty Point Soccer Club (NC), Kenwood High School Girls Soccer (TN), Soccer Shots Nashville North, and Hot Shots Soccer. Her tenure as Head Coach at Kenwood High School was highlighted by her selection as the TSSAA District 12-AA Coach of the Year (2018–19), recognizing her leadership in athlete development, academic accountability, and program operations.
Chiu’s operational foundation was built early in her career as a Student Manager for Texas A&M Soccer, where she supported equipment management, game-day operations, and facility logistics. She later expanded her experience through roles with Aggie Soccer Camps and the TAMU Letterman’s Association, gaining valuable insight into event coordination, alumni engagement, and program administration.
A committed member of the military community, Chiu has served in multiple Soldier and Family Readiness Group leadership roles, including SFRG Coordinator for 2BCT, 37th Brigade Engineer Battalion at Fort Bragg and Treasurer and Volunteer for 3BCT, 21st Brigade Engineer Battalion at Fort Campbell. Her work earned recognition as the Volunteer of the Month (September 2018).
Chiu holds a Master of Science in Kinesiology with a specialization in Coaching from Texas Woman’s University and a Bachelor of Science in Sport Management from Texas A&M University, where she also minored in Business Administration and Tourism Resource Management. She is certified in Texas to teach Physical Education (EC–12) and Core Subjects with STR (EC–6) and holds USSF D, E, and F coaching licenses as well as a USSF Grade 8 Referee certification.
