Kristine Fowler was elevated to Deputy Athletics Director & Chief Operating Officer in July 2022 by Director of Athletics, Mike Buddie, to work alongside him in directing the overall planning, implementation, administration, and day-to-day operations of the department that supports more than 1,000 cadet-athletes in 30 competitive programs.
Within her role, Fowler will continue to oversee the Human Resource and Compliance units in addition to taking lead on the Athletic Department Strategic Plan, Policy & Procedure development and oversee Business Development & Revenue Generation.
Fowler previously served as the Executive Associate Athletics Director since joining the Army West Point Athletics Association in July 2019.
Fowler is a veteran athletics executive with over two decades of extensive athletics experience with stops at Indiana University, University of Kansas, University of Miami (FL), and the University of Nebraska-Lincoln.
She serves as the sport administrator for volleyball, wrestling, women’s basketball, and women’s lacrosse. Fowler is designated as the Senior Woman Administrator and represents Army West Point within the Patriot League Governance structure. Within the Patriot League, she will chair both the Senior Woman Administrator Group and the Sport Management Committee for a two-year term beginning in 2022.
Fowler is a member of the Army-Navy Steering Committee that bids, organizes, and executes America’s most traditional and enduring rivalry game in the sport of Football. Additionally, she is part of the senior leadership team that is undertaking the most ambitious gift-funded construction project in the history of the United States Military Academy in raising $95 million in support of the vision to reconstruct the East Stands of Michie Stadium.
Fowler arrived on the banks of the Hudson after spending seven years at Indiana University as a Senior Associate Athletics Director and member of their Senior Staff. During her time with the Hoosiers, she oversaw Compliance, Sport Administration, served as the sport administrator for field hockey, men’s and women’s golf, men’s and women’s tennis, rowing, and wrestling, and represented IU on the Big Ten Sport Management Committee.
Fowler arrived at Indiana after serving as the Assistant Athletic Director at the University of Kansas for six years, where she managed the day-to-day operations of the compliance office. Prior to Kansas, Fowler spent three years as an Assistant Director of Compliance at the University of Miami (Fla.).
Fowler has served as the President and board member for National Association of Athletic Compliance (NAAC) as well as actively participating and serving on numerous committees for Women Leaders in College Sports. She also represents the Patriot League on the NCAA Division I Nominating Committee.
Fowler holds a Business Management degree from the University of Nebraska and a master's of Sport Administration from Barry University.
Fowler and her husband, Joseph, have two children, Kennedy and Jefferson.
