- Assistant Women's Basketball Coach
Sacha Santimano joined Missy Traversi’s coaching staff in the summer of 2022 and will begin her second season as an assistant with the Women’s Basketball program.
Sacha Santimano comes to West Point after successful head coaching stints at Bowdoin College (Division III) and Eastern Nazarene College (Division III). Most recently, she was the head coach at Bowdoin for one season (2021-22) where she led the team to a 16-9 overall record, which included a 7-0 start to the season.
Prior to Bowdoin, Santimano spent 10 seasons (2011-21) as the head coach at Eastern Nazarene College. Her best season came in 2019-20 where she led the program to a 21-4 overall record and to win the NECC Conference Regular Season. It was the best record in 20 seasons for the program and her work was recognized as she was named Conference’s Coach of the Year. She also led ENC to the New England Collegiate Conference Tournament semifinals in 2018-19, the program's first year as a member of the league.
She also saw coaching stops at Allen Community College (2010-11) serving as Interim Head Coach, Asbury University (2008-10), University of Cumberlands (2006-08) and University of Saint Mary (2003-06) where she served as an assistant coach.
Santimano has military ties as she served in the United States Air Force Reserves, where she graduated with honors and was named the top physically fit female of her class. She earned her Master’s of Arts in Teaching from the University of the Cumberlands in 2008. She is originally from Lansing, Kansas.
"Sacha has proven her ability to be successful at a variety of levels," said coach Traversi. "She has served over seven years in the United States Air Force. She understands the service commitment our cadet-athletes are signing up, which allows her to connect with them on a deeper level. Sacha's attention to detail makes her an excellent fit for our coaching staff and the United States Military Academy. What impresses me the most about Sacha is her ability to find a way and maximize the talent that she has around her."
"I am excited to become a part of the Army West Point family," said Santimano. "I would like to thank Coach Traversi for this opportunity, and I look forward to learning from her staff. They have established a strong culture and it is an honor to be a part of it. I'm ready to hit the ground running and help in any way possible."
