2010-11: Team captain ... went 1-2 in dual match singles play and 1-1 in doubles ... both wins came opposite Holy Cross ... won 8-2 at No. 3 doubles alongside Allen Xu before topping AJ Shekar, 6-2, 6-2, at No. 6 singles ... opened the year at the SJU Fall Invitational, going 0-2 in the second singles flight ... defeated St. Bonaventure's Luis Civevara, 6-4, 6-4, in the No. 5 flight of the Army Invitational on Oct. 9
2009-10: Competed in four singles matches, losing the first three before closing out the season with a 6-0, 6-1 win at No. 6 against Patriot League foe Holy Cross ... had one of the top doubles marks on the team, finishing the year with a 6-3 record ... rotated doubles partners throughout the spring, going 2-1 with Rashad Shelton, 1-1 with Bruno Lucivero and also collected wins with Andrew Clark and Alex Holland ... won three straight doubles matches between March 18-26, knocking off Florida Tech, Lafayette and Holy Cross, all at different spots and all with different teammates.
2008-09: Posted fall record of 5-6 ... opened spring season with two wins at No. 5 singles during the Army Invite ... won at No. 6 vs. Holy Cross.
Personal: Son of Daniel and Jeanne Shaffer ... cousin was a 1990 West Point graduate ... four-year letterwinner in tennis at Shady Side Academy in Pittsburgh, Pa. ... played No. 1 and No. 2 singles ... led team to states as team captain ... team MVP junior and senior year ... team finished second in Western Pennsylvania Interscholastic Athletic League junior year ... enjoys music, movies and sports ... major is engineering management.
