Brock Keener joined the Black Knights’ staff in August 2019 as a volunteer assistant. In June 2020, he was promoted to assistant coach. Brock’s role responsibilities include working with the catchers, outfielders, hitters, and recruiting.
In his first full season with Army, Keener helped guide the team to it's third consecutive league title and a 13-10 record in conference play. Keener also mentored all-conference players Sam Ruta (Rookie of the Year) and Tim Simoes (Defensive Player of the Year). With his help, seven Cadets earned spots on the All-Patriot League first and second teams and the team posted League-highs in runs scored (328) and hits (484).
Prior to Army, Keener was a student assistant coach at Michigan in 2018-2019. The 2019 season featured Michigan's eighth trip to the NCAA College World Series and its third-ever trip to the CWS Finals, where the Wolverines finished as the national runner-up. The Wolverine lineup finished fourth in the nation with 150 doubles, and seventh in total hits (685), eighth in walks (354), and 10th in runs scored (487). Additionally, Michigan hitters led the Big Ten Conference in batting average, on-base percentage, stolen bases, runs scored, doubles, and walks.
As a student-athlete, Keener spent two seasons at Michigan in 2017 and 2018 as a catcher and infielder. He played in 50 career games for the Wolverines, making 35 starts and driving in 22 runs. Prior to Michigan, he played at Alvin Community College
