May 06, 2026 | General
WEST POINT, N.Y. – The NCAA released its four-year Academic Progress Rate (APR) earlier on Tuesday, and seven Army athletic programs earned perfect scores of 1000, while 16 Army teams recorded perfect scores of 1000 on the 2024-25 academic year cohort. The programs recognized with perfect scores on the four-year report were Gymnastics, Women's Basketball, Women's Cross Country, Women's Lacrosse, Softball, Women's Tennis, and Rifle.
Eight of Army's varsity programs earned a spot in the top 10 percent of their respective sports, the most of any service academy as Air Force and Navy saw five teams each in the top 10. The Black Knights were represented by Baseball, Gymnastics, Rifle, Softball, Women's Basketball, Women's Cross Country, Women's Lacrosse, and Women's Tennis.
Army saw 16 of its varsity programs receive perfect scores of 1000 for the 2024-25 academic year cohort including Gymnastics, Women's Basketball, Women's Cross Country, Women's Lacrosse, Softball, Women's Tennis, Rifle, Men's Cross Country, Golf, Ice Hockey, Men's Tennis, Wrestling, Women's Soccer, Women's Track & Field, and Volleyball.
Army Football earned a score of 995 for the 2024-25 academic year, the program's highest mark in the academic progress rate since the APR began in 2004. Football also secured the highest multi-year APR over the four-year period of any program in the American Conference with a score of 984.
Each academic year, every Division I sports team's APR is calculated using a consistent formula. Scholarship student-athletes can earn one point for staying on course to earn a degree in their chosen major and one point for being retained (or graduating) at the end of each academic term. For schools that do not offer athletic scholarships, recruited student-athletes are recorded as a program's cohort.
