Men’s Tennis Defeats Marist, 4-2

WEST POINT, N.Y. – Army put together a strong performance in singles play to take down Marist, 4-2, at the Lichtenberg Tennis Center on Friday afternoon.

Army (10-5) didn't put together its crispest play during doubles action, as it fell 6-1 in the No. 3 spot and 6-3 in the No. 2 spot to drop the opening point of the match.

Marist opened singles play by doubling its lead to 2-0 with a 6-1, 6-1 win at No. 6. Alan Ton responded for Army by getting the Black Knights on the board with a gutsy, 6-4, 3-6, 6-3 win at the top spot to cut the Marist lead in half.

Daniel Choi evened the match up at 2-2 with a 6-1, 4-6, 7-6 win in the No. 2 spot. Choi trailed at times in the third set but battled through to pick up a crucial victory for Army.

Matias Feoli gave Army its first lead of the day with a 6-4, 5-7, 6-3 win in the No. 2 spot. This marked his fourth dual singles win of the season and gave the Black Knights a 3-2 lead, getting them within one point of the match victory.

Senior Jack Hanna clinched the dual victory for Army with an impressive, come-from-behind 3-6, 7-5, 6-2 win at No. 5. Hanna had to battle back in the second set and is now 2-2 in singles play this season.

The final match of the day at No. 3 went unfinished with Marcus Sebastian leading 3-2 in the third set.
