Byrne Earns Eighth Career Patriot League Goalkeeper of the Week Title

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Army West Point men's lacrosse senior goalkeeper Sean Byrne earned the Patriot League Goalkeeper of the Week title for the eighth time in his career and the second time this season as announced Monday by the league office.
Byrne put up a pair of stellar performances in goal for the Black Knights, totaling 26 saves in goal with just eight goals allowed during his time on the field.
The Acworth, Ga. native logged 50 minutes in goal in Army's game at Mercer on Monday and 49:30 minutes in goal in Army's home game against Patriot League opponent Holy Cross on Saturday.
Byrne was a stalwart presence in goal in Macon, delivering 14 saves in goal for Army while allowing just five goals from the Bears to amass a .740 save percentage against Mercer.
Upon Army's return to its home turf at Michie Stadium, the senior goalkeeper put up 12 saves against 25 shots from the Crusaders, allowing just three goals to help the Black Knights earn a 13-5 win in their first Patriot League contest of the season.
Byrne cleared the 300-career save mark on Saturday with his fourth save of the day and moves to a 22-4 career record in goal for Army.
