Women’s Basketball Set to Host WNIT Second Round on Sunday

WEST POINT, N.Y. – The Army West Point women's basketball team will host the Second Round of the WNIT on Sunday, March 22 at 2 p.m., in Christl Arena. The Black Knights will play the winner of the Merrimack vs. NJIT First Round contest.
Army went 13-2 at home this season and secured a bye in the opening round of the tournament.
Led by first year head coach Katie Kuester, Army has put together an impressive 24-7 record and earned a trip to the Patriot League Tournament Semifinals. The Black Knights 23 wins during the regular season marked their most since the 2015-16 season.
"These 14 players are so deserving of playing basketball in March, and I am thrilled that we have earned that opportunity in the WNIT. We can't wait to play in front of the best fans in the country, and we know that you'll make a Christl Arena a major homecourt environment." said Head Coach Katie Kuester. "This is a competitive 48-team field that includes some of the best mid major programs in the country. This is another opportunity to show everyone what Army Women's Basketball is all about."
The Black Knights earned six Patriot League All-Team honors this postseason. Camryn Tade was named First Team All-Patriot League, Kya Smith earned Second Team All-Patriot League, Reese Ericson garnered Third Team All-Patriot League and Reganne Reardon was named to the All-Rookie Team. Additionally, Tade and Smith each earned a spot on the All-Defensive team.
Army finished tied for second in the Patriot League standings, posting a 14-4 conference record. In the quarterfinal round of the Patriot League Tournament, Army defeated Lafayette. Army also recorded strong regular season wins over UMass, Howard and split its regular season series against Patriot League champion Holy Cross.
