Men’s Rugby Drops Saturday Match to Cal
March 15, 2026 | Men's Rugby
WEST POINT, N.Y. – Army West Point men's rugby had the lead midway through the first half and trailed by just 10 at halftime, but would surrender a flurry of points in the second 40 minutes to the California Golden Bears on Saturday at Anderson Rugby Complex and fell 70-18.
Army took the lead with a pair of Howie Heller penalties inside 10 minutes. After Cal found the try zone in the 11', Jack Reed would answer for Army five minutes later to put the Black Knights ahead 11-7.
That however would be the last points Army would score until the 75', an Andrew Bardak try and Howie Heller conversion.
Cal came into the match No. 1 in the CRAA D1A rankings, fresh off a win over Navy last time out. The Golden Bears are the reigning CRAA D1A national champions.
Army meanwhile moves to 8-3 overall in 2025-26.
