Men’s Tennis Downed by UC Irvine

IRVINE, Calif. – The Army West Point men's tennis team went for the reverse sweep on Friday afternoon but was unable to pull it off, falling to UC Irvine 4-3 at the Anteater Tennis Center.
Army (12-6) dropped the doubles point and the first two singles matches, before winning the next three singles contests. With the match coming down to the No. 1 singles spot, UC Irvine was able to edge out Army to record the win.
The Anteaters won the doubles point with victories at No. 1 and No. 2 to take the 1-0 lead. They quickly followed with two-set wins in the fifth and then fourth spot, to extend its lead to 3-0.
Marcus Sebastian finally broke through for Army with a 7-5, 7-5 win at No. 6 to get the Black Knights on the board. Army got it to 3-2 with a 7-6 (4), 7-6 (4) win by Jimin Jung at No. 2.
Alan Ton, who has been one of Army's most consistent singles players so far this season, pulled off a come-from-behind victory in the third spot to the tie match at 3-3, winning 6-7 (4), 6-1, 6-4.
The match was decided at the top spot, as Jackson Armistead put up a strong fight for Army but fell 4-6, 7-5, 5-7.
