March 12, 2026 | Women's Basketball
WORCESTER, Mass. – The Army West Point women's basketball team came up just short against Holy Cross, falling 61-55 in the semifinal round of the Patriot League Tournament on Thursday night at the Hart Center Arena.
Army (24-7) was in it to the end but was unable to get the game-tying basket late, as Holy Cross (22-9) advances to the championship game.
The Black Knights were trailing by two with less than 31 seconds to go but could not get a good look and turned it over with 17 seconds left on the clock. From there on out, it was a free throw game, and the Crusaders went a perfect 4-4 to ice it.
Camryn Tade led the way for Army with 13 points, while Kya Smith had 11 points and 13 rebounds. It marked Smith's 13th double-double of the season and her fourth in a row.
Army finished the game shooting 35.4 percent from the field, 35.3 percent from distance and 62.5 percent from the line. Holy Cross shot 42.9 percent overall, 56.3 percent from three and 100 percent on free throws.
How It Happened
Tade opened the scoring on Thursday to put Army ahead 2-0. Neither team was very crisp offensively, as Holy Cross led 8-6 at the first media timeout. There was a stretch of 2:50 in the period where neither team scored. Going into the second quarter, Holy Cross held a slim 14-12 lead.
The second 10 minutes of action was the Crusader's best offensive stretch of the night, as they shot 58.3 percent, which helped build their halftime lead to six. Army was 4-12 in the frame and turned it over seven times.
Despite being down 32-26 at half, Army was certainly not out. Army trailed at home to Boston U., by six earlier this season and staged a second-half comeback to record the win.
The Black Knights opened the third quarter strong and had the game within two points with 6:45 before the final quarter. Holy Cross continued to answer and buried a late three right before the horn to retake a seven-point lead with 10 minutes to go.
With 4:16 left, Army trailed by eight and hope for a comeback was dwindling. However, Taylor Wilson knocked down a big three and Smith recorded a 3-point play, and with 2:10 left to go, Army trailed by just two but would not score again.

In addition to Tade and Smith scoring in double-figures, freshman Reganne Reardon added 10 points on 3-7 shooting.
