Baseball’s Chris Barr Named Patriot League Player of the Week
February 23, 2026 | Baseball
BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Army West Point baseball's Chris Barr has been named Patriot League Player of the Week
The senior infielder hit two home runs in Army's win over SEC foe South Carolina and was .357 across Army's 2-1 weekend, which also included a win vs. academy rival Air Force. Barr was 2-for-5 vs. South Carolina and 3-for-6 vs. Air Force.
Army's win over South Carolina on Friday represented the first over a Power Conference opponent since defeating Pitt on March 4, 2022. It was also Army's second win all-time vs. an SEC opponent, previously defeating Florida in Gainesville on March 17, 2004. Coincidentally, that game was also a 9-5 win.
Barr's two-homer game was the first multi-homer contest for a Black Knight since both Derek Berg and William Parker hit two vs. Bucknell on April 21, 2024.
With Army's win Saturday night vs. Air Force, the Black Knights have now won five of their past eight games vs. Air Force dating back to 2023, and 22 of their past 33 games against academy rivals.
Through six games, Barr is currently batting .308 in 2026. The Black Knights are next in action at Queens in Charlotte, N.C., for a three-game series Feb. 27 to March 1.
