Hill Plunkett, Sean Byrne, Gus Bell Earn Patriot League Weekly Awards

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Following a dominant beginning to the 2026 season, three Black Knights earned Patriot League Weekly Awards as announced by the league office Monday afternoon. Hill Plunkett earned the Offensive Player of the Week title, Sean Byrne claimed the Goalkeeper of the Week title, and Gus Bell received the Rookie of the Week honors for their efforts against UMass.
Plunkett put on a dominant performance in Army's season-opening 14-8 win over the A10's UMass on Saturday. Plunkett led both teams with seven points from a game and career-high five goals. Plunkett spread the offense out as well with two assists in the contest to help Army open its 2026 season with a win.
Plunkett was an effective shooter, taking a total of 11 shots with nine landing on frame. The sophomore also added two ground balls and a caused turnover to the stats sheet to help the Black Knights start the season off with a win.
Sean Byrne kicked off Army's 2026 campaign with a win as he earned 11 saves in the contest with just eight goals allowed for a .579 save percentage. The game marks Byrne's 13th career performance with 10+ saves and earned him his seventh career Patriot League Goalkeeper of the Week title.
Bell was a standout performer in Army's win on Saturday, tying for the second most points on the team (3) from two goals and an assist in his collegiate debut. Bell took two shots and landed both on target to help Army to its decisive win to begin the 2026 season.
