Women’s Tennis Secures 3-0 Weekend Behind Sy’s Third Set Heroics

WEST POINT, N.Y. – Army West Point women's tennis secured its second 3-0 weekend in as many weeks to move to 6-2 overall in 2025-26, with an Emma Sy singles win clinching the team victory over Stony Brook for the Black Knights on Saturday night.

After dropping the doubles point for the second time Saturday, Army once again rallied in singles, but would ultimately need Sy to prevail in three sets on singles court No. 1, of which she did, claiming a 6-4, 2-6, 6-3 win over Stony Brook's Elena Lobo Corral. Sy's match lasted two hours, 37 minutes.

Earlier Saturday, the Black Knights prevailed 4-1 over UConn, going 4-0 in completed singles matches after giving up the doubles point.

One day earlier vs. LIU however, Army faced little resistance in a one-sided, 4-0 win, with two sets being decided 6-0 and another three 6-1.

Emily Ruckno and Olivia Mellynchuk went 2-0 in doubles across the weekend, taking one DNF. Sy also posted a 2-0 record in singles, with her lengthy win Saturday evening coming on the heels of a 6-2, 6-2 win over UConn's Victoria Matos Saturday afternoon.
