Wrestling’s Filipowicz Named EIWA Wrestler of the Week
January 26, 2026 | Wrestling
BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Army West Point wrestling's Gunner Filipowicz has been named the EIWA Wrestler of the Week.
In a matchup between the top-two seeds in last year's EIWA Championships at 165 lbs Saturday, No. 16/18 Filipowicz executed a Peterson maneuver on Bucknell's No. 21/26 Noah Mullvaney, flipping the Bison wrestler on his back after starting the period in the bottom position, and claiming a win by fall at the match's 3:23 mark.
(Rankings by Intermat and FloWrestling, respectively)
Army never trailed after Filipowicz earned the six team points for the Black Knights, and Army moved to 2-0 in EIWA dual action this season with a 23-12 win.
The junior from Georgia currently sits at 15-4 overall in 2025-26, including a 3-2 dual bout record and a 2-0 record in EIWA dual bouts. He is a two-time NCAA qualifier who reached the Southern Scuffle finals this month for the third time in his career.
Army is back in action Sunday vs. Lehigh at Christl Arena.
