Women’s Tennis Drops Spring Openers at Dartmouth and Boston College

HANOVER, N.H. & WEYMOUTH, Mass. – Army West Point women's tennis opened its 2026 spring season with matches at both Dartmouth and Boston College. With the squad split between the two sites, the Black Knights were able to squeeze in 18 individual matches into the weekend.

While the Black Knights won doubles matches vs. both teams, Army was unable to clinch either of the doubles points, or the team matches as a whole, falling 5-2 to Dartmouth and __ to Boston College.

Madison Smith—fresh off a Patriot League individual doubles title in the fall with teammate Isabella Brilliant—prevailed in the No. 1 doubles match at Dartmouth alongside Stacey Samonte, with a tiebreaker going 8-6 their way. Smith and Samonte also picked up singles points over the Big Green.

Meanwhile in Massachusetts, Emma Sy and Emily Ruckno also won singles matches, with Ruckno also winning in doubles with Olivia Mellynchuk.

For Army, Sarah Yan, Lillian Zhang and Mellynchuk made their career team match debuts.
