Gymnastics Falls on the Road to Penn State

STATE COLLEGE, Pa. – Army West Point Gymnastics fell to Penn State (1-0) to open the 2026 season, with a final score of 311.300-297.600. Army (0-1) was lead on the Pommel Horse by senior Maddox Pabellon, earning the highest score of the event with a 13.850.
On the Floor Exercise, the top finisher among Black Knights was junior Jaden Blank who earned a 12.850 to finish third among all competitors. Pabellon was strong on the pommel horse, while fellow teammate sophomore Jake Prabhakaran delivered a 13.300 on the apparatus to finish in fourth.
During the third event of the day the Still Rings, two Black Knights senior Carter Beck and sophomore Cash Johnston earned top five finished with 12.7500 and 12.100 finishes respectfully. As a team, the Black Knights posted a 53.650, which was the highest team score on any apparatus and second highest of the meet. Junior Nick Lester lead all Army gymnasts on the vault, scoring a 13.800 to finish third.
On the Parallel Bars, Lester lead all Army gymnasts with a 12.750, while on Horizontal Bar Blank collected a second-place finish and a score of 12.650.
The Black Knights also saw two freshman gymnasts make their collegiate debut. Both freshman Thomas Morrow and Felipe Junqueira appeared for the first time in a Black Knight uniform.

The Black Knights will return to action next weekend hosting the 34th annual West Point Open at Christl Arena on Jan. 16-17.
