September 27, 2025 | Men's Soccer
WASHINGTON, D.C. – The Army West Point men's soccer team fell to American, 3-1, on Saturday afternoon at Reeves Field as its seven-match unbeaten streak came to an end.
Army (3-2-4, 1-1-1) was unable to put together continued offense on Saturday, despite leading in shots 9-7. American (4-4-1, 3-0-0) remains undefeated in conference play after scoring a pair of goals in the second half.
The Eagles opened the scoring in the 23rd minute on a goal by Sebastian Garces. The Black Knights had six shots in the opening half and finally broke through with just 30 seconds remaining before the break on a goal by Kasen Minzey, his first of the season. Minzey scored off a Brantly Wigginton shot that was saved and deflected right to the sophomore, who cashed in for his first collegiate goal.
Army struggled to carry the momentum created by Minzey's goal into the second half, as American scored in the 60thminute to regain the lead. The Eagles doubled its lead in the 74th minute to make 3-1 and put the match out of Army's reach.
Michael Guiry faced seven total shots, five on goal from the Eagles, and made two saves. He moves to 3-1-3 on the season. On the other side, Matthew Tibbetts saved two of Army's three shots on goal and moves to 3-3-1.
American led in corner kicks (6-5), while Army committed nine fouls to the Eagles six.
