Women’s Soccer Soars to First Patriot League Victory over Lehigh Mountain Hawks

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Army West Point women's soccer earned their first Patriot League win in a 4-0 victory over the Lehigh Mountain Hawks (2-5-2, Patriot League, 0-2-0) on Friday Night. In the victory, the Army Black Knights (7-3-1, Patriot League, 1-1-0) had four different goal scorers. Notably, sophomore Grace Pohlidal netted her first goal of the season, while senior Brigid Duffy, sophomore Daisy West and freshman Sophia Henry all added one. Additionally, sophomore Karalyn Dail earned her first career shutout in the victory.

- The Black Knights opened the games scoring at 31:06 off of a strike from senior Brigid Duffy. Duffy took the ball past three Lehigh defenders including through the legs of one. The Lehigh goalkeeper game out to defend the shot and Duffy placed it around her.
- Army took a 1-0 lead going into halftime outshooting the Mountain Hawks nine to four and three corner kicks to zero.
- Sophomore Grace Pohlidal doubled the lead at 67:37 with her first of the season. Sophomore Bella Conti intercepted a pass from a Lehigh defender. Conti passed a beautiful thru ball to Pohlidal. The Lehigh goalkeeper came running out and Pohlidal shot it past her.
- Sophomore Daisy West added a third goal of the game and her second of her career at 73:03. Senior Cami Silvestro kicked a corner into the box, where is timed up perfectly with West on the back post. West headed it in to make it 3-0.
- The Black Knights added another in the waning minutes of the game at 85:48. Senior Bella Cooke was on the breakaway. As the Lehigh defenders were catching up, Cooke passed it across to freshman Sophia Henry, who tapped it into the net to make it 4-0.
- Sophomore Karalyn Dail was spectacular in the net for the Black Knights with four saves and her first clean sheet.
- The Black Knights will be back in action at home on Wednesday, Oct. 1 against Boston U. at 6 p.m. for the home Patriot League opener.
