Duffy’s Late Heroics Lift Women’s Soccer to Victory over the Great Danes

ALBANY, N.Y. – Army West Point Women's Soccer emerged victorious in Sunday's matinee match against the UAlbany Great Danes (0-3-0). For Army (3-1-0), senior Brigid Duffy scored the game-winning goal at 88:52, while freshman Sophia Henry recorded her second brace in the past three games.

Freshman Ragon Francy and sophomore Makaela Morrell earned their first career starts
Freshman Sophia Henry scored second career brace and has four goals in four games for the Black Knights
Senior Maddie Allshouse recorded two assists in the game for her first points of the season
Senior Brigid Duffy scored her second game-winning goal in as many games with a goal in the 89^th minute.
Sophomore Karalyn Dail collected six saves for her third straight victory in between the pipes

How It Happened

The Black Knights started fast in the game, earning their first corner kick only two minutes into the game but were unable to connect on the cross
At 9:43 into the game, freshman Sophia Henry beat out a Great Dane defender for the loose ball. Henry carried the ball across the box down the right side while still defended and took a shot while falling that went into the back to the net.
The Black Knights took a 1-0 lead into the half and recorded 5 shots on goal to the Great Danes 2.
Neither team was able to find the back of the net coming out of halftime until the Great Danes struck on a ball that bounced around the box at 77:45
UAlbany struck again in the 81^st minute off a penalty kick to take a 2-1 lead in the closing minutes of the game
Army wouldn't go away quietly as they continued to push into the offensive side. Senior Maddie Allshouse connected with Henry in the box at 86:07. Henry turned, while being defended by a UAlbany defender and took a shot that found the left corner to tie the game at 2-2
Under three minutes later at 88:52, senior Brigid Duffy scored her second game-winning goal in as many games. Allshouse carried the ball up thru the midfield before passing to junior Sabrina Rogers. Rogers found Duffy cutting thru the box and she collected it and took a shot that hit the upper 90 to give the Black Knights a 3-2 victory
