Five Army Athletic Programs Earn Perfect Scores, Six Receive Public Recognition in NCAA’s Academic Progress Rate
May 07, 2025 | General
WEST POINT, N.Y. – The NCAA released its four-year Academic Progress Rate (APR) earlier this week, and five Army athletic programs earned perfect scores of 1000, while six programs placed in the top 10% nationally. The programs recognized with perfect scores were Rifle, Softball, Women's Basketball, Women's Cross Country, and Women's Tennis. Baseball also ranked in the top 10% nationally.
In comparison to fellow service academies, Air Force had four programs receive public recognition, while Navy had three.
Division I student-athletes continue to achieve academic success: the national four-year Academic Progress Rate for Division I teams remained steady at 984 for the fourth consecutive year.
Twenty-one Army varsity programs either exceeded the national average APR of 984 or received public recognition from the NCAA. These programs include: Women's Lacrosse, Baseball, Women's Soccer, Women's Track, Gymnastics, Men's Tennis, Men's Lacrosse, Men's Swimming and Diving, Men's Basketball, Hockey, Wrestling, Volleyball, Men's Cross Country, Golf, and Men's Soccer.
Each academic year, every Division I sports team's APR is calculated using a consistent formula. Scholarship student-athletes can earn one point for staying on course to earn a degree in their chosen major and one point for being retained (or graduating) at the end of each academic term. For schools that do not offer athletic scholarships, recruited student-athletes are tracked.
