Antwiler Shines at GARC Championships as Rifle Places Fifth

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – The Army West Point rifle team turned in a fifth-place finish with a 4686 at the 2025 Great America Rifle Championships held at the Bill McKenzie Mobile Rifle Range hosted by West Virginia.
Army freshman Addison Antwiler shined in her first trip to the GARC Championships leading the way in air rifle the final day of the competition. The native of Madisonville, La., qualified for the eight-person individual finals after claiming that spot with a 595, one shy of her career high, to advance forward. She went on to finish seventh.
Also among Army's top shooters in that discipline were Briggs Moore (590), Chris Jennings (589), Nicholas Bull (589) and Brenna Green (588) as the Black Knights combined for a 2361 team score.
The No. 2 ranked Mountains captured their 17th GARC title compiling a team mark of 4738, beating runner-up and No. 3 Kentucky (4728) for that honor. Navy was third (4705) followed by Akron (4699), Army (4686) and Memphis (4676).
Saturday Army posted a 2325 smallbore score opening the two-day tournament in fifth place, just five points behind fourth-place Akron. Host West Virginia took a slim four-point lead with a 2350 ahead of Kentucky's 2346.
Green was the Black Knights' smallball leader the opening day placing 12th with a 586. Jennings fired a 585 for the 17th spot followed by Bull and Moore with a 582 and 581, respectively.
The next day the Mountaineers outshot the Wildcats by six points in air rifle (2388-2381) en route to claiming the GARC title for the third straight year. Navy was a distant third (2366) followed by Akron (2369), Army (2361) and Memphis (2359).
The season is not over for Army's Antwiler, who heads to the 2025 NCAA Rifle National Championships in Lexington being hosted by Kentucky, March 14-15, to compete individually in air rifle.
