Track and Field Opens Outdoor Season at Redlands Invitational

REDLANDS, Calif. – The Army West Point Track and Field opened their outdoor season at the Redlands Invitational, securing multiple top finishes across track and field events.
The men's team had standout performances in both track and field events.
Owen Lang set the tone on the track by capturing first place in the 400m dash with a time of 50.02 seconds.
In the 110m hurdles, Army West Point showed its depth as Austin Hernandez finished in second place with a time of 15.03 seconds, followed closely by Hunter Morris in third at 15.26 seconds.
The Black Knights dominated the field events with commanding performances across multiple disciplines.
Robby Manse had an incredible day, securing two event victories. He won the shot put with an impressive throw of 17.58m (57' 8.25"), then followed it up with another first-place finish in the hammer throw, launching the implement 60.36m (198' 0") to claim victory.
In the discus throw, Jacob Bowersock emerged victorious with a throw of 45.67m (149' 10"), while freshman Matt Palchak also delivered a strong performance, securing second place with a mark of 43.83m (143' 9").
The Black Knights also impressed in the javelin throw, where Elijah Goodwin recorded a winning mark of 63.22m (207' 5"), finishing well ahead of the competition.
The field event dominance continued with a strong overall showing in the hammer throw, where Jonathan Segujja placed second at 55.24m (181' 3"), while Collin Torres secured a top-five finish with a throw of 50.80m (166' 8").
On the women's side, the team delivered an equally impressive performance, capturing wins across various events.
On the track, Zoe Eggleston ran a strong race in the 800m run, taking first place with a time of 2:22.72.
The Black Knights completely dominated the shot put, sweeping the podium with Jordan Hecht leading the way, winning the event with a throw of 14.03m (46' 0.5").
She was followed by Sara Sahadi, who placed second at 12.97m (42' 6.75"), and Emilia Labruyere, who secured third with a throw of 11.87m (38' 11.5"). Army's depth was on full display, as Sophia Dykstra (11.73m / 38' 6"), Elliot Eddy (11.16m / 36' 7.5"), and Kiana Emerson (10.22m / 33' 6.5") all placed in the top six.
The dominance continued in the discus throw, where Army West Point secured yet another sweep.
Sophia Dykstra led the charge, winning the event with a mark of 47.47m (155' 9"), while Jordan Hecht and Sara Sahadi finished second and third, respectively, with throws of 42.16m (138' 4") and 40.54m (133' 0"). Kiana Emerson, Emilia Labruyere, and Olivia Hancock rounded out the top six.
The hammer throw saw another standout performance, as Emily Fink dominated with a throw of 64.59m (211' 11"), securing first place by a wide margin. Kiana Emerson continued her strong day with a third-place finish at 48.32m (158' 6"), while Sophia Dykstra and Emilia Labruyere also placed in the top five.
Army will remain on the West Coast for their next meet, as they head to San Diego, California for the Aztec Invitational.
The meet hosted by San Diego State will begin on Friday, March 21, and will run through Saturday, March 22.
