February 04, 2025 | Hockey
BOSTON - Army West Point hockey sophomore defenseman Mac Gadowsky has been named Atlantic Hockey America Defenseman of the Month for January, announced today by the league.
Gadowsky had a point in all eight games during the month, helping the Black Knights propel up the league standings with a six-game winning streak which featured sweeps over Mercyhurst, Air Force and Robert Morris.
The sophomore blue liner led all AHA skaters in both goals (seven) and points (16) during the month while recording the third-most blocked shots in the league with 18 across eight games. His 16 points were six more than any other defenseman in the country over that span.
Gadowsky logged a goal and assist in four straight games at home versus Mercyhurst and Air Force, logging a plus-five rating in game one against Mercyhurst before a two-goal and four-point night in game two. He went on to score the game-tying goal in the third period against Air Force in game two which forced overtime, before delivering the game-winning assist to Jack Ivey to help secure the sweep over the archrival Falcons.
This marks the second defenseman of the month honor in Gadowsky's career, having previously tabbed the honor in December of his rookie campaign. He has earned three AHA defenseman of the week laurels this season, including two in the month of January.Â
Gadowsky currently ranks second among all defensemen in the country with 26 points and is first in goals with 11. He is the lone player in the country to have recorded over 30 blocked shots and reach the 25-point plateau to this point in the season.
Also Army's lone Hobey Baker Award nominee, fans can vote at the link HEREÂ for Gadowsky.
