Rifle Heads to GARC Championships with High Hopes

MORGANTOWN, W. Va. – The Army West Point rifle team heads to West Virginia for the 2024-25 Great America Rifle Conference Championships being held at the Bill McKenzie Mobile Rifle Range inside the WVU Shell Building with competition being held Saturday and Sunday, March 1-2.
The host Mountaineers welcome Army, Navy, Akron, Kentucky, and Memphis to this year's conference championships. Smallbore team and individual competition begins Saturday, March 1, with air rifle team and individual competition being held Sunday, March 2, with both sessions beginning at 9 a.m.
The Black Knights will be looking to challenge the field where two of the teams, West Virginia and Kentucky, ranked second and third nationally, qualified for the eight-team NCAA Men's and Women's Rifle Championships being hosted by the Wildcats (March 14-15).
A young Army team enjoyed a record-breaking day late in the season in a 4711-4632 win over North Georgia. The Black Knights set program marks in smallbore (2339) and aggregate scoring (4711) over the Nighthawks.
Freshman Addison Antwiler, who qualified individually for the NCAA Championships in air rifle, leads the team with her 591.923 average in that discipline. She shows a 577.462 smallbore average and team best 1169.385 aggregate mark.
Brenna Green is the team's leader in smallbore with a 582 average followed by Briggs Moore (579.643), Chris Jennings (579.214 ) and Ashton Arlington (579.182). Jennings also ranks among Army's air rifle leaders carrying a 588.714 mark followed by Moore (587.5), Arlington (586.273) and Green (586.143).
