WEST POINT, N.Y. — Women's Soccer will see two staff changes heading into the spring season, with assistant coach Tori Ball being promoted to associate head coach and the addition of Kerry Edwards as an assistant coach.
Tori Ball is promoted to associate head coach after spending four seasons with the program, beginning fall of 2021. During her tenure as assistant coach, the Black Knights hold a 38-25-15 overall record.
Army has also won two straight Patriot League Regular Season Championships in 2022 and 2023, plus made appearances in two Patriot League tournament semifinals and two Patriot League tournament championships.
Before coming to West Point, Tori Ball spent a four-year tenure at Colorado State as an assistant coach, which included a season spent as the interim head coach in 2020. During her time in Boulder, the Rams went 22-24-12, a stretch that was highlighted by the program's first-ever appearance in the Mountain West Tournament in 2019.
Before her position with Colorado State, Ball was the head coach of multiple teams for FC Boulder, which is a member of the U.S. Soccer Development Academy. Among other responsibilities was her top priority of on-field and off-field player development. Ball also served as the program's social media director in her second year with the club.
The Mobile, Ala. native played four seasons collegiately as a striker for Auburn University. In her playing career, she helped the Tigers reach the second round NCAA Tournament three times, and as a freshman, helped the Tigers win the SEC Tournament title.
"From day one of our four seasons at West Point, Tori has made me, our players, and this program better," head coach Tracy Chao said. "I am thrilled to elevate her to Associate Head Coach. Her impact truly goes beyond the field. Tori is loyal, trustworthy, and fully committed to our standards and values that define Army Women's Soccer and the future leaders we serve. Her leadership, dedication, and passion for developing our cadet-athletes make her more than deserving of this role."
Additionally, the Black Knights have a new addition to the coaching staff, bringing on Kerry Edwards from Bowling Green.
"I am incredibly honored to join Army West Point Women's Soccer and be part of such a storied program with a tradition of excellence," Edwards said. "West Point embodies the highest standards of leadership, discipline, and commitment—values I deeply admire and connect with. I want to express my sincere gratitude to Coach Tracy and the Army Athletic Department for this incredible opportunity. I look forward to contributing to the team's success and working alongside an exceptional staff and talented student-athletes. Go Army!"
Kerry Edwards spent one year as the assistant coach at Bowling Green, where the Falcons finished with a 7-7-4 overall record. Under Edwards' direction, the Falcons also made a MAC tournament appearance.
Previous to her time at Bowling Green, Kerry Edwards served as the head coach at Georgia Southwestern State University.
In her three years at the helm, Edwards guided GSW to three of the four winningest seasons in program history. The Hurricanes made two PBC Tournament trips in that time, and the team won a total of five conference games after winning just three league contests in the previous 15 years combined.
Edwards enjoyed success both as a player and a coach before GSW. She played collegiately at Dallas Baptist University, leading the team to three NCAA Tournament appearances, including a trip to the Sweet 16 in 2011. A goalkeeper, she finished her career second in the NCAA Division II record books with 48 career shutouts, and third with almost 8,000 minutes in net.
Edwards was named to the All-Heartland Conference and All-South Central Region teams in each of her four seasons and was a two-time NCCAA All-American.
Edwards began her collegiate coaching career at Southwest Oklahoma State University in 2015 as a graduate assistant. The Bulldogs recorded 11 shutouts as a team and had a 1.19 GAA while going 13-6-1 overall and 8-3-1 in the Great American Conference to finish third in the league.
Edwards spent the 2016 season at the University of North Alabama as a graduate assistant before taking a position as an assistant coach with the University of South Alabama in the 2017 season. At the latter school, she coached the goalkeepers who led the Sun Belt Conference in shutouts and boasted a 0.93 GAA. The Jags captured the SBC regular-season title, then rolled through the league tournament, winning three games without allowing a single goal and advancing to the NCAA Championships.
The 2017 team also won the SBC regular-season and tourney crowns, again posting three shutouts during the league tournament to advance to the NCAAs.
Edwards returned to North Alabama, coaching the goalkeepers as the team transitioned from NCAA Division II to Division I. The program posted seven shutouts and had a 1.15 in 2018, helping the team make the Atlantic Sun Conference Tournament final.
After two seasons with the Lions, Edwards joined the Northwestern State University program, where she worked remotely in 2020, due to the restrictions of COVID-19. Her primary responsibilities included scouting opponents, analyzing and breaking down game film along with consulting about practice planning and tactical development.
Edwards, a native of McKinney, Texas, earned her undergraduate degree in kinesiology from Dallas Baptist in 2015 and received her master's degree in sports management from North Alabama in 2018.
"I'm incredibly excited to welcome Kerry Edwards to Army Women's Soccer," head coach Tracy Chao said. "With experience as a former Division II head coach, a Division I assistant, and a tremendous playing career, she brings a wealth of knowledge and a strong track record of success that will add immediate value to our staff and program while embracing the standards and values of our program and West Point. Kerry's leadership, passion, and commitment to developing our cadet-athletes will make a significant impact as we continue to grow and compete for championships."
