Record Breaking Day For Army Sharpshooters

WEST POINT, N.Y. – A pair of program records in smallbore and aggregate were set by the Army West Point rifle team in its 4711-4632 victory over North Georgia Sunday at Tronsrue Marksmanship Center.
The win was Army's second straight over the Nighthawks this weekend, earning its sixth victory. The team's 2339 mark in smallbore, where the Black Knights swept the top five places and seven of eight, is a school record snapping the former mark of 2335. The school 4711 aggregate shattered the previous high of 4697. The Black Knights outpointed North Georgia in air rifle as well, 2372-2348.
Chris Jennings led the way for Army, besting Briggs Moore for top honors in smallbore on centers (32-31) after both carded a 586 en route to winning the aggregate scoring with an 1179 after posting a 593 in air rifle.
Addison Antwiler was the leader in air rifle, firing a 595, one off her season high, edging North Georgia's Alison Sutherlin by two points for that honor. Jennings also posted a 593, one shy of his season high, taking third after losing out on centers to Sutherlin.
Also finishing among Army's top shooters in smallbore were Brenna Green (584), Antwiler (583) and Ashton Arlington (582). In air rifle, Nicholas Bull and Green carded identical 592s, the former setting a season high, followed by Arlington (590) in claiming fourth through sixth in the standings.
Joining Jennings on the leaderboard in aggregate, where he topped the field with an 1179, were Antwiler (1178), Green (1176), Moore (1173) and Arlington (1172) as Army swept the top five places.
Next up, Army closes out its home slate with its NCAA Qualifier on Saturday, Feb. 22.
