Fiona Hastick Named Preseason All-Patriot League, Army Picked Second in Preseason Poll

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – With the women's basketball season less than three weeks from tipoff, Army captain Fiona Hastick was named to the Preseason All-Patriot League Team, as announced by the conference on Thursday morning. Army was also picked to finish second in the preseason poll.
Hastick, a junior from Reston, Va., is co impressive sophomore year and looks to become one of the premier players in the conference during the 2025-26 season. Last year, Hastic started all 33 games for the Black Knights while finishing second on the team in minutes player (1,067). She was also second on the team in scoring with 10.9 points per game. She scored in double figures in 20 games. She had a season-high 22 points in the opening round of the WNIT on the road against Bryant. Hastick also had 20 points against Lafayette on Jan. 15. She ended the season scoring double figures in seven of the final nine games.
While her offensive skills are undeniable, Hastick also contributes to all other areas on the court. During the 2024-25 campaign, she finished second on the team with 86 assists, including a career-high seven against Loyola Maryland on Jan. 8.
Hastick pulled down 4.4 rebounds per game last year and averages around the same mark throughout her collegiate career. She had a season-high rebounds against Mt. St. Mary, and recorded five-plus rebounds in 13 games.
Defensively, Hastick led the team with 22 blocks – five clear of the next closest player. She had a at least one block in 15 games and had a multi-block game six times. She also snatched 36 steals last season, which was third on the team.
Army was picked to finish second in the preseason poll and received two-first place votes, which was tied with Navy for the most in the conference. With 68 total points, the Black Knights slot in right under the Midshipmen, who were picked first with 71 points.
It's the highest spot Army's been picked since before the 2017-18 season when it was selected first.
Head coach Katie Kuester is entering her first season with the program and looks to build on the success of the 2024-25 season in which the Black Knights won 25 games, made it to the Patriot League Championship game and earned a trip to the WNIT. Ten players returned from last year's team. Hastic and senior guard Reese Ericson will captain the Black Knights for a second consecutive season.
Army opens its 2025-26 campaign at home on Nov. 3, as it takes on Pace in Christl Arena. Tipoff is slated for 5 p.m.
