No. 16 Rifle Second Trailing No. 10 Nebraska in Four-Team Field

WEST POINT, N.Y. – The Army West Point rifle team, ranked 16th nationally, trailed No. 10 Nebraska in the race for the team title at the four-way match held at West Point's Tronsrue Marksmanship Center Saturday morning.
The Black Knights recorded a team score of 4672 behind the Huskers' winning mark of 4731. Army also had the second highest team marks in smallbore (2325) and air rifle (2347). Alabama Birmingham was a distant third posting a 4575 followed by Mount Aloysius (4566).
Junior Chris Jennings was Army's top shooter, placing third in smallbore behind a season-high 588, just one point off his career mark, was fifth in air rifle (590) and posted the fourth highest aggregate mark (1178).
Five Black Knights broke into the top nine smallbore spots with Jennings and Briggs Moore (584) grabbing third and fifth, respectively, followed by Nicholas Bull (578), Barbara Forgues (576) and Brenna Green (575) claiming seven through nine.
Green (587) was also sixth in air rifle (587), just one spot behind Jennings' 590. Also placing among the leaders were Bull (9th/585 with 39 centers), Moore (11th/585 with 32 centers), Forgues (12th/583) and Ashton Arlington (14th/582).
NEXT UP: Army heads to Annapolis, Md., to take on arch-rival Navy in the annual Star match next week (Feb. 1).
