Gymnastics Places Fourth at the West Point Open

WEST POINT, N.Y. – The Army West Point gymnastics team kicked off its 2025 season with a fourth-place finish at the 2025 West Point Open.
RESULTS
The Black Knights posted an overall score of 308.300, finishing behind Ohio State (315.800), which claimed first place, Penn State (312.750), and just narrowly behind the Naval Academy (309.500).
Nick Lester (Phoenix, Ariz./Pinnacle (North Valley)) led the Black Knights, placing sixth in the All-Around competition. His performance was highlighted by his strong vault, where he earned second place with a score of 13.900, qualifying for the individual finals.
Maddox Pabellon (Houston, Texas/Logos Preparatory Academy (Houston Gym Center)) also delivered a top performance, securing second place on the pommel horse with a score of 14.050, which earned him a spot in the individual finals.
Noah Duran and Jake Prabhakaran (Tampa, Fla./Jesuit Tampa (EVO)) also qualified for the vault finals, with Duran finishing fourth overall with a score of 13.600 and Prabhakaran placing 10th with a score of 13.100.
In the still rings, three Black Knights qualified for the individual finals: Conor Heary (4th, 13.000), Jojo Buselmeier (6th, 12.950), and Gabe Almeida (12.900).
Cash Johnston was the sole Army gymnast to qualify for the parallel bars finals, finishing in ninth place with a score of 12.750.
On the high bar, three Black Knights made the cut: Tyson Phelps (3rd, 13.300), Lester (7th, 13.200), and Jaden Blank (13.050), who secured the final qualifying spot.
Lastly, two gymnasts qualified for the floor exercise finals: Buselmeier (6th, 13.500) and Aguilar (10th, 13.200).
The Black Knights will return to Christl Arena on Saturday, January 11, at 7:00 p.m. to compete in the individual finals.
