Welcome to the Show: Jacob Hurtubise Called up by Cincinnati Reds
May 14, 2024 | Baseball
CINCINNATI, Ohio – Army West Point Baseball alum Jacob Hurtubise was called up to the major leagues by the Cincinnati Reds on Monday.
Â
The Class of 2020 grad from West Point arrives in The Show after joining the Reds organization as a free agent in 2020. The outfielder spent parts of four seasons in the minor leagues, including nine games this season while rehabbing from injury. He had been on the roster of the Triple-A Louisville Bats when he received the call to join Cincinnati.Â
Â
The native of Indianapolis is the second Black Knight graduate to reach the major leagues, after RHP Chris Rowley spent parts of the 2017 and '18 seasons with the Toronto Blue Jays.Â
Â
Hurtubise made his MLB debut as a pinch-runner in the eighth inning Monday night as the Reds fell 6-5 at the Arizona Diamondbacks.Â
Â
The four-year baseball letterman hit .301 across his Army career. As a junior in 2019, his final full season before COVID cut short the 2020 campaign, Hurtubise hit .375, with 61 starts and 26 RBIs. He also played in the Cape Cod Baseball League in the summer of 2019, with the Harwich Mariners and Orleans Firebirds.Â
Â
Hurtubise was part of two Patriot League Tournament championships and NCAA Regional Appearances with Army.Â
