Men's Tennis Falls in Patriot League Semifinals to Boston U

WEST POINT, NY - Army West Point men's tennis fell in the Patriot League semifinals on Saturday morning to top-seeded Boston University by a score of 4-0.
The Black Knights had taken down No. 5 Lehigh in Friday's quarterfinal by a score of 4-2 to advance in the conference's final four.
Beginning with Friday's quarterfinal, Army saw the doubles point come down to a tiebreak on court three with Michael Rooney and Samuel Haikal. Marcus Sebastian and Alan Ton had already secured a 6-4 win on court two, while Lehigh prevailed on court one. Haikal and Rooney commanded the tiebreak throughout, tabbing a 7-2 win to give the Black Knights the pivotal doubles point.
Sebastian continued his run in singles as the first finisher on court five (6-4, 6-2) to make it 2-0 Army. The Black Knights fell on court one, before Ton cruised to a (6-2, 6-2) win on court six to set Army up for the victory. Vishnu Bodavula dropped the first set on court four, but stormed back to force a third set which he then claimed to clinch the match and advance Army into the semifinals.
In the semifinals, Haikal and Rooney surged to a 6-2 win on three to begin the doubles, but the Terriers eventually prevailed in a tiebreaker on both courts one and two to secure the doubles point by the thinnest of margins. The Terriers took the momentum into the singles, claiming three wins to advance to their second consecutive Patriot League Championship match.
