WEST POINT, N.Y. – Army West Point Baseball leaned on a methodical offensive output, efficient pitching and stellar defense as it knocked off Hudson Valley foe Marist 6-1, at Doubleday Field on Tuesday.Â
Â
Army's infield turned six double plays. Three twin killings came in each of the opening three frames. Sam Ruta also snagged a pair of line drives at third base, each time tossing to first for the second out. In the seventh inning, a turned double play left the bases loaded and ended a Marist threat with no damage. The Red Foxes scored their only run of the game in the ninth as Army turned its sixth double play.Â
Â
The club improved to 23-17 and have won eight of its past 10.
Â
The Black Knights scored in four of the first five innings, with trio of one-run innings.

Â
Schreck got back into the RBI column in the fourth, on a single to center field. Army then knocked the Red Foxes for three runs in the fifth, via a Ruta double and an Ethan Ellis two-run single.Â
