March 04, 2024 | Men's Lacrosse
BETHLEHEM, Pa. – After a massive week, the Patriot League has named Jackson Eicher Offensive Player of the Week and AJ Pilate Defensive Player of the Week.
Eicher has been one of the best stories in the country so far this season. He missed all of last season due to injury and is currently the team's leading scorer with 14 goals and the leader in points with 20. He has been a key cog in the Army offense that leads the Patriot League in scoring, averaging 14.80 goals per game. He scored a hat trick, including the overtime game winner and an assist on Wednesday at No. 7 Syracuse and followed that up with another hat trick on Sunday to go along with three assists. The Virginia native has scored multiple goals in every game this season and a hat trick in four of them.
Pilate has been the anchor of the best defense in the Patriot League so far. The Black Knights lead the league in goals against average, allowing just 10 goals per game. This week he held both of his matchups without a goal. While holding his opponents without a goal, he scored his first career goal against Lafayette on Sunday. On the week he had six ground balls and three caused turnovers.
Army will take on Holy Cross at home on Saturday March 9 at noon. The game will be streamed on ESPN+.
