Men's Rugby Downs Mary Washington 34-17

FREDERICKSBURG, VA. – The Army West Point men's rugby team picked up a big win against Mary Washington on Saturday afternoon by a score of 34-17.
Mary Washington scored first with a try within the first five minutes to go up 5-0. The Black Knights responded in major way, rattling off the next 29 points to take a commanding 29-5 lead.
The run started with a Jonny Haley penalty kick, followed by a Benjamin Kemp try and a Haley conversion. Lucas Pattinson followed it up with a try of his own. Haley converted to push the lead to 17-5. Those two combined for the next try/conversion.
A Ben Richards try pushed it to 29-5 before a Mary Washington try at the 52 minute mark snapped the Black Knight run. Nathan Gould got a try at the 60 minute to extend to a 34-10 lead. Mary Washington would tack on one more late to make it a 34-17 final.
Next up for the Black Knights is a trip to Arizona on Saturday. Game time is still TBD.

Nate Gould: Today was a full team effort by all 60 guys. Lots to improve on as we make the final push into Arizona and the playoffs. Their are many things to improve that we can work on in these next couple weeks.
Lucas Pattinson: We knew this game was gonna be a difficult one. It was the first away game of the semester which already put us in a different headspace than normal. Despite that we where able to bring energy to an away pitch and had a great performance on the day. I couldn't be more proud of the physicality and effort that won us this game.
