Hockey Falls in Game Two to Robert Morris, 4-3

WEST POINT, NY - Army West Point hockey (9-20-1, 7-14-1 Atlantic Hockey) fell by a score of 4-3 in game two to Robert Morris (10-19-3, 7-13-2 Atlantic Hockey) as the Colonials earned the series split from Tate Rink.
A trio of plebes collected goals for the Black Knights including Barron Woodring, Jake Hewitt and Easton Zueger as Zueger's marked his first career score.
Army failed to capitalize on the power-play throughout the game, going 0-for-5 with the man advantage while the Colonials were 0-for-1.
The Black Knights got out to a hot start in the first frame, scoring the opening goal just over four minutes in as Joey Baez delivered an inch-perfect pass to Woodring who tapped home his fifth of the campaign. Robert Morris answered with a goal on its first real chance of the game at the 9:03 mark, as a lofted stretch pass from Gavin Gulash found Paul Maust on a breakaway who beat Evan Szary five-hole to even the score.
Chad Veltri stood tall throughout the remainder of the first, as Army had a plethora of chances to retake the lead, eventually outshooting the Colonials 15-5 in the first frame. The score remained tied at the first intermission for the second consecutive night.
Robert Morris was able to jump in front early in the second after a good forecheck led to a wide angled shot from Luke van Why finding the top left corner of the net as RMU had its first lead of the series 90 seconds intot he second period. RMU dictated the play in the second, outshooting Army 12-10 but the Black Knights got a great chance to tie the score as RMU took a major penalty with 2:30 remaining in the period.
Army was unable to score on the extended power-play that was split between the two periods, as Tanner Klimpke made it a 3-1 game at the 2:51 mark of the third after another partial break after a pass off the boards from Walter Zacher. The Black Knights would not go quietly, as Jake Hewitt fired in a laser of a one-timer off a feed from Nik Hong to make it a 3-2 scoreline with 13 minutes remaining.
The game seemed to get away from Army once again as Logan Ganie made it a two-score contest once again with 5:05 remaining on RMU's third breakaway goal of the contest. Easton Zueger did his part to help lead a comeback effort, depositing his first career goal off a feed from Hewitt who has carried the puck from behind Army's net to behind RMU's.
The Black Knights looked for yet another empty net equalizer late in a game, as a Robert Morris penalty with 1:59 remaining gave Army a six-on-four scenario to close out the game. Army was able to hold possession, but the Colonials held firm in front of Veltri to see out the 4-3 win and earn the series split.
