Wrestling Sweeps Action Sunday vs. Purdue and Buffalo

BUFFALO, N.Y. – Army West Point Wrestling went 2-0 at Sunday's tri-meet at Buffalo, defeating Purdue and Buffalo and claiming the program's first win over a power conference opponent since Nov. 24, 2019 vs. West Virginia.
Army's win over the Boilermakers was decided by tiebreaker. After 10 bouts, the teams were tied 19-19 in the team score. However, the Black Knights were granted the dual match win based on tiebreaker, going 1-0 in bouts with three bonus points awarded after the first criteria of total matches won remained tied 5-5.
In the ensuing duel vs. Buffalo, Army never trailed, riding three falls and six bonus point wins on its way to a one-sided victory. The Black Knights took the initial seven bouts against Buffalo to put insurmountable separation between the teams.
Gunner Filipowicz earned bonus point wins in both his bouts, claiming a major decision vs. Purdue and a fall vs. Buffalo.
Lucas Stoddard made his season debut Sunday, winning the final bout of the Purdue match and securing the dual win for Army. Wolfgang Frable meanwhile wrestled up in the final bout vs. Buffalo, with the 197 wrestler competing in heavyweight and winning 8-3
