Women’s Rugby Surges Early to Claim 14-10 Win at Quinnipiac

HAMDEN, Conn. – Army women's rugby hit the road on Saturday for their latest NIRA matchup as they headed to Connecticut to face Quinnipiac.
The Black Knights claimed an early lead with two tries and conversions in the first half and although Quinnipiac found the try zone twice in the second 40-minutes, the Bobcats could not complete their conversion and Army's defense held strong to preserve their lead through the final whistle.
Yesenia Morales broke open the scoring in the match only 11 minutes into the action for her fifth try of the season. Alissa Eisenhart completed the conversion on Morales' try to push the Black Knights up to a 7-0 lead.
Chloe de Leon extended Army's lead with a second Black Knight try at the 25-minute mark with an Eisenhart conversion to give Army a 14-0 edge that the squad held through the end of the first half.
The Bobcats got on the board mid-way through the second half with tries in the 54th and 60th minutes, but Army's defense remained steadfast in their work and stopped Quinnipiac in their tracks to maintain the squad's edge through the final whistle.
