October 17, 2024 | Football
The Maxwell Award will be given for the 88th time following the 2024 season and has been presented to the College Player of the Year since 1937 and is named in honor of Robert "Tiny" Maxwell who was a former standout at Swarthmore College and a renowned sportswriter and football official.
Daily has accounted for a plethora of award recognitions this season after leading Army to its third 6-0 start since the 1950 season. He was named Walter Camp National Player of the Week on Tuesday after a five-touchdown performance in the win over UAB along with his third Davy O'Brien Great 8 List recognition of the season. Daily has garnered American Athletic Conference Offensive Player of the Week in each of the last two weeks, having rushed for 136 yards and four touchdowns on 12 carries and completed 3-of-7 passing for 102 yards and a touchdown before coming out early in the third quarter against UAB this past Saturday.
Daily has 14 rushing touchdowns this season through six games and is three away from the most rushing touchdowns in a season in Army history and currently ranks third in the country among all rushers and first among quarterbacks. He has now rushed for over 100 yards in five consecutive games, tying Trent Steelman's program record for consecutive games reaching the century mark on the ground. Five of Army's six games have seen Daily score multiple touchdowns on the ground while he's now scored five touchdowns in a pair of games against both Rice and UAB.
