Army Athletics Reveals New Strategic Plan
September 01, 2023 | General
WEST POINT, N.Y. – Army West Point Director of Athletics Mike Buddie has announced a strategic plan that aims at delivering a premier cadet-athlete experience, providing cadet-athletes the opportunity to succeed as students and as athletes, and molds them into exceptional leaders and officers in the United States Army.
"Fruits of Victory," as the strategic plan is titled, is derived from General Douglas MacArthur's (USMA, 1903) quote, "Upon the fields of friendly strife are sown the seeds that upon other fields, on other days, will bear the fruits of victory."
The plan's clear vision focuses on four strategic priorities inspired by Army West Point's mission to recruit, educate, train and inspire leaders of character who are committed to the values of Duty, Honor, Country through an extraordinary Division I athletic experience.
"Going through this collaborative process was a great exercise and reminder that, regardless of external forces, our focus needs to be solely on the development of young leaders of character through athletic participation and competition" said, Director of Athletics, Mike Buddie.
The plan's four strategic priorities are:
- Priority #1 – Competitive Successes
- Priority #2 – Extraordinary Division I Athletic Experience
- Priority #3 – Public Engagement & Revenue Generation
- Priority #4 – Sustainability
