Women's Soccer Falls in Season Opener to UNCG 2-0

GREENSBORO, N.C. – The Army women's soccer team fell to UNCG by a score of 2-0 in its season opener.
The first 10 minutes of the game saw the Spartans dominate possession, but the next 10 saw the tables flip and the Black Knights got some decent chances.
Army's first chance came as Kaelan Bradley got a free kick about five yards outside of the box and put the ball just over the crossbar.
Kaitlin Palaian had a fast break chance around the 30-minute mark but the keeper got hands on it and pushed it out of bounds and was awarded a goal kick.
UNCG opened the scoring in the 43rd minute when Mairead Gayer found the bottom left corner to go up 1-0.
Shots were even at three apiece in the first half and corners were tied at two apiece.
The Spartans would go up 2-0 when Ava Kiss found the back of the net in the 48th minute.
Jasmine Talley had three really good looks but two went just wide and one went off the post.
Army dominated possession and shots in the second half, outshooting the Spartans 12-2 in the final 45' but they were unable to find the back of the net.
The Black Knights outshot UNCG 15-5 (4-3 SOG) on the game.
Army will look to regroup and bounce back against head coach Tracy Chao's alma mater, Wake Forest on Sunday at noon on ACCN+.
